Guess what I picked up today.
The long awaited/anticipated/shrouded in rumor Random Access Memories.
Daft Punk are back and with a sound that is rooted in their signature style but at the same time they are bringing a lot of new things (or old things back) to the table.
My impressions of the album is that its clearly not based on samples but rather a beautiful myriad of organic instrumentation along with several fantastic uses of vocoding and talk-box vocal processing. There also is some super danceable huge analog leads that pepper this album.
My favored tracks from 1-13 (One being the most favored)
To say this album is Disco, House or Funk I think is an understatement its something else, something new… something I will call: Electro-Orchestral Future Love-Funk
This album is a mature progression from DPs previous works. Its a breath of fresh air but blowing from the same place in the sky. I think that most people who have been fans of DP from the beginning will have little to nothing complain about from this masterfully crafted album.
Whilst uni and other life matters eat into my production time I’m still managing to take shaky video teasers of stuff that is almost done
Saturday afternoon hangover feels.
Tame Impala being pretty freaking amazing covering Outkast’s ‘Prototype’ with their own flavor. Beautiful playing and vocals. I have played this at least 20 times already. Thank you muchly Triple J.
Have a listen and drift away on the funk.
As I said in a recent post I have fallen in love with the musical stylings of Mike Parker
So much that I decided to put my own stylings into once of his quite dark minimal tunes. Essentially its just a bootleg but I quite like how it turned out. Hopefully the ‘Broken Strobe’ concept comes across quite clearly in this mix… but each to their own.
Give it a listen and check out the original here
I have recently discovered Mike Parker. Yay techno.
Lackluster blog posts should be returning to a regular schedule soon Haaaa
I’m to busy with Game of Thrones to be posting anything … however new music in the ears over the past couple weeks.
Ive actually finally managed to catch up with the new Van She album several months after it came out :\ Im liking this new sound a lot less kinda dank electronic rock and more synth sounding almost Cut Copy style refrains. Alas it is a summery sounding album for my current winter like weather that is usually spent listening to more colder sounding electronic artists.
Also on the agenda: Northeast Party House a Triple J Unearthed indie dance band from Melbourne that has made it big enough to have tangible albums in store. I wont lie.. this album was purchased on impulse because of how cheap it was and without looking I thought it was going to be essentially four to the floor alternative house music, also the album art is pretty swanky. Over all the sound is pretty nice actually perhaps something I would liken to the love child of an acoustic session of Art vs. Science and maybe Bloc Party or the The Whitest Boy Alive
Another person I love primarily for their mind and secondly for their music. Thom Yorke is a freaking superhero. An hour long podcast of just him and Alec Baldwin talking about anything and everything.
At the start of the week WNYC aired an interview between Hollywood actor and radio presenter Alec Baldwin and Atoms For Peace and Radiohead frontman, Thom Yorke.
In their hour-long conversation, Thom talks about his relationship with his bands, politics, stalking Ed Norton and how Atoms For Peace began as: “An excuse to go on a jolly to L.A. and hang out.”

I have only recently become a fan of Autechre, I stumbled across them when I was searching for more Aphex Twin or Empty Set to listen too, so I was quite pleased to hear that a new album of theirs had just been releaced a few weeks ago. wonderful mind bending IDM packaged in a two disc medium ^^

Reel to reel alchemy.
Four tape machines and one man a whole lots of looping, delays and reverse delays make for a smooth minimal techno live performance.
This blows my mind to no end.
“happy life with the machines scattered around the room”

HTDNP006 LIVE - Fingers in the Noise
We were very excited when Fingers in the Noise decided to sign his name on our 006 podcast. So excited that we streamed it live from Nîmes, France and extended the normal podcast length to 2 hours.
Laurent Bisch alias Fingers In The Noise is an electronic music producer, oriented to ambient, dubtechno, and sometimes experimental.
Laurent started producing music twenty years ago after taking a few piano lessons.
With a typical course after long party nights in France, Laurent decided in 2009 to find a more peaceful life and devoted his free time to composing music.
